The Keairns family have over 100 years experience of carpet and flooring sales and installation in Cincinnati.
Greg served in the United States Army and did a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1967-68. During his deployment he was awarded the Bronze Star. After his tour of duty he attended University of Cincinnati part-time for years on the GI bill and began his flooring career in 1971. Greg was a rep for Armstrong World Industries in Lancaster, Pa. His job took him to five states calling on lumber and retail flooring stores and promoting flooring, carpet and ceiling tile systems.
Years later he was appointed vice president for a major Cincinnati based wholesale distributor of carpet and flooring materials. During this time he learned the ins and outs of retail store management, retail selling and the wholesale distribution chain. He also got to know many manufactures and upper management staff members and developed a relationship with them through large purchases of carpet and flooring materials to sell to retail stores. Greg also had the opportunity to see first hand the distribution supply chain of how floor covering distribution works. After getting to know hundreds of installers during those years and even today, he has a file folder about three inches thick of good and bad installation crews in and around Greater Cincinnati. Greg is grateful for the years of manufacture and wholesale sales experience that he was able to experience.
Starting our flooring business
In 1985, Judy and Greg decided to open their own business serving consumers and business with floor covering products and installation. Their daughter came into the business and the rest is history. Son Brandon was brought into the business at the early (age 15) and taught the high standards the family lives by and the great pride they take in selling and installing carpet and flooring right the first time. Brandon has since been trained in all types of floor products and sales as well as complete floor and carpet installation. He is the person behind the scenes managing the crews and installation. He is a great trouble shooter and is on just about every installation.
Brandon also runs sales leads, measures and has a tremendous knowledge of the flooring sales side of the business. He is one of the highest rated Certified Flooring Installers in Midwest America. He also has attended the Armstrong Vinyl School, Shaw Carpet Softbac Certification, Pergo Certification School, Formica Certification, Carpet Cushion Certification and many other manufactures sales and installation training schools and seminars. He just recently came back from a 2 day factory visit at Somerset Hardwood Floors in Somerset, Kentucky. There he saw the logs come into the saw mill and exit the end of the building as finished hardwood flooring.
Home Based Carpet and Flooring is a member Cincinnati BBB Accredited Business since 2011, World Flooring Covering Association (WFCA) and the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA).
